Since 2017 we’ve designed and built custom homes on our clients’ land across Kent County and beyond.
We’re small by choice. You work directly with the people designing, estimating and building your home, and the number you see early is grounded in what our finished homes actually cost.

Plans finalized, selections made, and a line-by-line fixed estimate issued before construction. Changes are priced in writing first.

Highline was founded by Daniel Dick, a Calvin University engineering graduate and licensed Michigan residential builder.
We run our own framing and finish carpentry crews rather than subbing out the work that defines a home, and every client works directly with the people building it.

Questions, answered
Is Highline a custom builder or a production builder?
Custom. Every home is designed for the client and the lot. We also offer plan-based homes starting around $400,000 for clients who want a faster, lower-cost path.
Do you build on my lot or in your own developments?
On your lot, anywhere in greater Grand Rapids. If you don’t own land yet, we’ll help you find and evaluate it.
How much does a custom home in Grand Rapids cost?
Most Highline builds fall between $600,000 and $1.5 million for the home, land not included, with plan-based homes from about $400,000 and estate homes above $1.5 million.
How long does a custom home take?
The build itself typically takes six to twelve months. Design and estimating before that usually turns around in two to three weeks from our site visit and receipt of drawings.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Highline Homes LLC is a licensed Michigan Residential Builder (#262200327), fully insured, and a member of the Home Builders Association of Greater Grand Rapids and the HBA of Michigan.
